When Pollman says "Men have become tools of their tools" he means many differnt things. For example he means that people aren't able to function without there everyday tools like internet or tv or farmers with there new technology to plant crops. But in fact we became dependent on them we are there tools because it is like they are using us more then we use them cause in a sense we need them so it feels like a necessity instead of a tool. Like eating or sleeping we need too go on the internet. This is what he means when he says this because its not a tool anymore when its something we depend on its a necessity. Its like these tools take over our lives on how we do things. For example farmers would do everything by hand now they have new technology to help them its became a necessity to have these tools instead of just using them once in a while.

Men do face concerns about there bodies for example they are suppose to be these strong muscular guys that are cut. They dont really have to watch there weight like women but they have to appear to have muscles and be strong. Some men also have to worry about grey or loosing hair when they are older . These are just some of the things men have to worry about or face about there bodies.

Both Sedar is and Asimov both have similar realization of language, They both realize that people are better then others at certain things. For example Asimov speaks about how he was always good at certain test that were giving to him thru out his life. This is because he is able to understand the language of the people making the test. He is just able to understand the language of the test therefore he will always score high cause of his alit to do this. Sedar knows that taking French will be difficult but in order to do it he has to learn from someone who is better at French then he is. This is showing us that people are able to do better in life if they are able to understand different languages. Not just in the sense of people that speak different language but people that are able to understand what they is going on and what is expected from them thru the language hat is being use almost like a certain code What is similar about these to stories is also how Sedar was able to learn the language being taught to him from his teacher. But Asimov wasn't able to understand a joke that was told to him by a friend. This is because he didn't really understand the kind of language he was using by telling the joke. Asimov wasn't a common sense smart but book smart. This is how both realize how important language really is.

My favorite quote that Goffman used is the one where he says "women smile more and more expansively then men which arrangements appear to carry over into advertisements."(10) I agree with what he's saying very much so because of a few different reasons. I think it is much more appealing for a women to smile in an add or advertisement then a man to smile. I believe that the man is there to show more of a protective role and a women to show more of a welcoming role

My favorite quote from Bordo is when she says " They know,no matter what there parents, teachers and clergy or telling them, that inner beauty is a big laugh in this culture."(154) I think she is 100 percent correct in saying this. Even though are friends families are telling us that it doesn't matter how we look but what' on the inside that counts is true, but most people only see the outside. This can be hard for many people, because people judge you before they get to even no you. It happens to everyone and even happens to me that's why this quote was so significant to me because even though we are told it doesn't matter how we look we know that that's what a lot of people go by.

Visual image has changed very much so in advertisements. Women are now shown it a lot more sexual then they use to I believe. Its gone from women wearing full outfits from them being able to show practically everything in order to appeal to men. It also shows women as an object and not as a person which I think is inappropriate. In most advertisement women are only used for there sex appeal and really not for anything else .I don't think the role in advertisement in men have changed as drastically as the role of women have though. They still make the men out to be this tough macho guy most of the time to make it feel like if you buy this product you can be this tough macho guy.

The quote that interested me the most by Mcloud was "The fact that our mind is capable of taking a circle, two dots and a line and turning them into a face is nothing short but of incredible" (4). The reason I like this quote is because he is exactly right. Our minds are programed from such a young age to recognize things like that. For example I can go around my house and probably find 20 things that reminds me of a face within two minutes. Like right now im sitting looking around and see a clock and it reminds me of a face. What he says is very true and goes along with a lot of other things. For example when I see the country Italy on a map it reminds me of a boot. From such little details we see in things, we are able to turn those example of things and imply them to other things that remind us of it.

An example of a logical fallacy is saying that you have a pet frog that has four legs. Then saying that your dog also has four legs which makes him a frog too. This is false because just that they have that in common dont make them the same animal.

If ever there was an idea custom-made for jay Leno monologue, this was it.In order to be good at a job you have to be consistent. What ever happened to just being lazy and getting the job done. I happen to sympathize with lazy people, though perhaps because i was once lazy and good at my job but wasn't consistent at it.

Foss defines and explains rhetoric in man different ways. For example the one that i liked the most is how he explained it saying that "rhtoric is used to mean flowery, ormental speech laden in with metaphors and other figures of speech" (foss 2). What this means is that we use rheotric is many ways. We use this in ways to explain things and use them as acts of symbols. Foss also goes on an says that rhetoric is also use to represent symbols. Ross says that we use a symbol like cutting down a tree for Christmas. That is a symbol people use for Christmas, the tree in a woods alone isnt a symbol because its just a tree.

There is also rhetorical criticism which is "an interest in understanding particular symbols and how the operate.(Foss 5). According to Ross this means that critics use this to better understand and appreciate things for example Foss says eminems music is as example of this. People take the symbols of his music and his metaphors and use them to better understand it.
Another way to use rhetoric is thru people. Ross says that countries do this all the time by flying a plane over another country. This can be taken in in different ways. This can be a symbol of war or just was done on an accident and meant no harm by it. Its up to the people to decide whether or not how they want to interpret it. By him explaing this i belive that he means that we are the ones that decide what rhetoric is . People can interpret really anything they want how they want.
Foss shows us that there are many ways of using rhetoric from being able to communicate with people to using symbols and criticizing things.Foss shows us that there are many forms of rhetoric from using it for criticism to symbols and communicating with people.

rhetoric-
    1. The art or study of using language effectively and persuasively.
    2. A treatise or book discussing this art.
  1. Skill in using language effectively and persuasively.
    1. A style of speaking or writing, especially the language of a particular subject: fiery political rhetoric
